Chanakya was a philosopher, economist and politician who wrote Indian political treatise ‘Economics’ (economics). In this seminary work, he compiled nearly every aspect of property, economics, or physical success. Due to their significant contributions, politics in India is considered as a leader in science and economics.
Chanakya is also identified as Koilya or Vishnu Gupta, the first Mauryan emperor was a powerful statesman in the court of Chandragupta and played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire.
Originally, he was a professor of economics and political science at the ancient Takshshila University, Chanakya gave rise to power at the young age of first Maurya emperor Chandragupta. He is widely credited for playing an important role in the establishment of the Mauryan Empire, which was the first empire in the history of archaeologically recorded history to rule most of the Indian subcontinent.
Chanakya also served as the chief advisor to both Chandragupta and his son Bindusara.
As such, he is considered to be a pioneer in the field of economics and political science in India, and his work is considered to be an important forerunner of classical economics. Chanakya is often called “Indian Machiavelli”, although his compositions are about Machiavelli before about 1,800 years ago. His work was lost near the end of the Guptas and did not search again until 1915.
